Before the mediation your lawyer may provide us with documents and a written summary of your position. We will review them before the mediation.

The actual mediation usually starts with an opening statement. That takes place at the beginning when we all meet together in one room. We will ask the parties (and/or their lawyers) to briefly explain to the mediator the dispute and how it has impacted them. It is up to you whether you wish to make the opening statement or ask your lawyer to. Sometimes support persons may want to say something too.

In some matters, the parties decide that an opening statement is not necessary or will be unhelpful, in those matters the mediation commences in the private sessions.
